Cash Grants
Ineligible
The Foundation does not support (although individual Sobrato family members may contribute personally to these activities or causes):

Agencies with less than a three-year average of $300,000 in renewable private cash contributed income raised locally (i.e., unique one-time gifts, bequests, capital campaign & endowment contributions are excluded)

Agencies that do not serve at least 50% of their primary clients in Santa Clara, San Mateo and/or Southern Alameda Counties and whose primary clients are not at least 50% economically, emotionally and/or physically challenged

Agencies whose largest program expense supports mental health, the environment or the arts
-
Fiscally-sponsored programs or organizations

Fundraising events or endowment campaigns
-
School-managed clubs or individual schools (except by invitation only)

Medical research or specific diseases
-
Projects created or operated by public government agencies or departments

Public libraries or their foundations
-
Type III Supporting Organizations unless "functionally integrated"
Eligibility
To be eligible for a cash grant, an applicant must:

Be a 501(c)(3) independent organization

Have a minimum renewable private cash contributed income three-year average of $300,000, raised locally
-
Serve 50% or more of its agency's clients in the California counties of Santa Clara, San Mateo and Southern Alameda and serve clients who are economically, emotionally and/or physically challenged

Have a primary mission that is aligned with the Foundation's priorities of Education, Health, Human Services and Public/ Societal Benefit organizations
